Used 1966 Pontiac GTO Hardtop for Sale - Stock #253051
Vehicle Description
1966 Pontiac GTO 4 Speed Price Reduced By $3000 The GTO was the brainchild of Pontiac engineer Russell Gee, an engine specialist; Bill Collins, a chassis engineer; and Pontiac chief engineer John DeLorean. In early 1963, General Motors' management issued an edict banning divisions from involvement in auto racing. At the time, Pontiac's advertising and marketing approach was heavily based on performance, and racing was an important component of that strategy. With GM's ban on factory-sponsored racing, Pontiac's young, visionary management turned its attention to emphasizing street performance. This awesome example of a 1966 model is a perfect match for the avid Pontiac person or a active collector. No Classic Car collection is finished without a growling tiger in the building. Estalee Myers purchased this car From Hittle Pontiac in Greenville , Ohio on March 28, 1966. It was purchased to enjoy during the good weather of the summer time and rarely saw rain or snow during it's 102,000 miles. The second owner had known the family and the car for many years and was given the chance to purchase it in the early 2000's making this a 2 owner vehicle. Wearing it's original Code N Burgandy paint, the car has been put through a frame on restoration that was finished in 2007. All the original panels are still on the car with no major steel replacement and just a small amount of filler just to get the car straight. These cars were always eye candy to people watching it roll by and it was quite obvious what they were gazing at with that menacing front end staring at you like, well, a Tiger. The Code 224 Parchmaent Interior has been brought back to life with all new door panels, front and rear seat coverings, foam, trim, head liner, sill plates, sail panels, carpet and other small interior pieces. When driving these cars it always seems like everything seems in it's place. From the placement of the factory speedometer and Tach, to the feel of the 4 Speed . When the second owner had the vehicle restored, he added only a few subtle modifications. One obvious addition is the new set of Craiger S/S 15 inch wheels riding on anew set of Cooper Cobra Radials size 2257R15. Wanting to add a little low end firepower, the owner decided to go with a 3:91 Posi instead of the documented 3:55 shown on the build sheet. Everything else was left stock and original. If documentation is what you want, you won't be disappointed. It comes with PHS documentation, Build Sheet, Protecto Plate, owners manual, and a copy of the original invoice written to the first owner mentioned above. This is a completely numbers matching car and is a solid investment for anyone. Let's summarize. This GTO has everything you want. Owner history back to the original, all kinds of documentation, Original Steel, engine and Transmission. The car is a joy to drive and still carries that GTO attitude.
